About
Zevart's Story

Zevart Keshishian was born in Kessab, Syria.  Since her teenage years, her foremost interest was around health and nutrition, often observing her mother's cooking very closely.  While in boarding school, Zevart would attend the needs of those who were sick or physically hurt.  Soon after she used her nursing skills by becoming a midwife.

While Zevart attended college when her children were in school, she acquired her Master's Degree in nutrition and worked with pregnant teenagers, educating them about the importance of nutrition.

Coming from a traditional belief that food should be shared to be appreciated, Zevart loves to cook still to this day.  You will find her happily sharing her table with everybody, while always staying conscious of the nutritional quality she brings to the table.

Testimonial

I'm really proud of my mother, Zevart Keshishian who has put in a lot of love and labor towards the creation of this book by gathering all her childhood village recipes compiled into one place so that we can treasure within our lifetime and pass on to the generations that follow us. Her beloved village Kessab in Syria may take a great deal of time to restore to the good ole days, but thankfully till then, this rustic collection of the food lives on in my mother's book.
